It’s funny when people think that “yoga people” are supposed to be calm. NO…
We’re all here because we’re nuts…
Reasons why I am currently alive: yoga, shavasana and namaslaying… Before I discovered the magical world of yoga I had 99 problems but now I am doing yoga on the weekly basis and ignore them all. It took me 2 years to find the style of yoga that works the best for me. Luckily, in 2016 I discovered the world of Bikram Yoga (small steps you know). Long story short, Bikram Yoga is the 26 postures sequence selected and developed by Bikram Choudhury from Hatha Yoga ( a branch of yoga that emphasizes physical exercises to master the body along with mind exercises to withdraw it from external objects).
In the darkness, I am light
For 30 days, I have practiced these 26 postures and after few classes noticed the difference in my body. First week I have been adjusting to the heat and the intensity of the practice. Oh man, that was intense... In Bikram or any type of hot yoga, hydration is extremely important before, during and after the class. Even though everyone speaks about this, before I have started practicing hot yoga on the daily or weekly basis, I did not take it seriously (guess who almost fainted during the first class?!). Longer your practice, better you understand and listen to your body. Eventually, over the period of time you get used to it and become the heat addict.
Best advise after class – there is nothing better than an ice-cold coconut water or Urban Kombucha.
After moving to Lausanne in early 2016, I was trying to find a hot yoga studio but there was no options to choose from. No hot yoga, no Bikram… nothing… I missed the heat and the feeling I used to get (the feeling of complete relaxation and namaslaying shavasana). Few months later my prayers have been heard. In February 2017, the Yoga Flame Studio opened their doors to Lausanne area where I could continue my hot Yogaslaying.
Yoga Flame is one of the best yoga studios in Switzerland. There is a various choice of classes such as Bikram, Barkan, Ballet Flow, Soul Flow, Yoga for Kids, Hot Pilates, Hot Flow, Ashtanga Vinyasa, YIN etc. The energy in the studio is vibrant and positive. The teachers come from different parts of the world (fully certified Yoga and Pilates instructors) and the classes are taught both in English and French.
The studio provides everything you need to have the best yoga experience:
- Yoga mats
- Tea room with different snacks and drinks
- Books about yoga
- Little shop with clothes, malas, cremes etc.
In the showers, you can find amazing Cocooning products (Swiss natural & bio products for your body and soul) – best, after long hot yoga class. It is truly one of my favorite places in Switzerland with great community, mutual respect, continual evolution, focus on sustainability and well-being.
One of my favorite classes in Yoga Flame is Soul Flow & Yin – 90 minutes of pure bliss. The class is taught by Ludmila and it is a good combination of a workout and relaxation. One thing I can promise is that after this class you will sleep like a baby. For those who are interested to try hot yoga, Yoga Flame has an unlimited offer – “Two weeks unlimited” that allows you to try all the classes and find the perfect match for you. In case you have more questions, I invite you to check Yoga Flame website or simply pay a visit to the studio where welcoming Carole and Pascal (the founders) will answer your questions and help you to find the best membership offer.
